The only Mexican player that is on his way out to Europe and that played in the Liga MX is Orbelín Pineda who will join Celta de Vigo after the former Cruz Azul player decided not to renew his contract with the Mexican side. He will arrive as a free transfer.
On the other hand, the MLS probably will lose four players in this winter transfer window. The four players are expecting to arrive at European clubs. One of the names among the four footballers is Julián Araujo, who plays for LA Galaxy and who recently debuted with the Mexican national team against Chile in the last match of 'Tata' Martino´s side in the 2021 year.
Orbelín Pineda's departure to Europe had been planned since last summer when the Mexican national team midfielder reject Cruz Azul to renew his contract. Celta de Vigo, the Spanian club, already had their attention on the former La Máquina Celeste midfielder.
Meanwhile, according to ESPN's Bill Connelly, teams in Europe are interested in Ricardo Pepi of FC Dallas, Julian Araujo of Los Angeles Galaxy. Valentin Castellanos of New York City has also been linked to their similar in England and Justin Che to a Bundesliga side. Their clubs have already mentioned that they would give them all the facilities to arrive in Europe.
In 2021, the MLS finalized the departure of at least eight players to Europe, while Mexico was only able to add three to its legion of players in the European continent: Santi Muñoz, José Juan Macías, and Johan Vásquez.
The destinies of the Mexican players were Spain, Italy, and England, while in MLS one went to Austria, two to Germany, two to Belgium, and three to Italian football.
There are four Liga MX players in Europe's sights: Sebastián Córdova, Luis Romo, Alexis Vega, and Uriel Antuna. However, América player is about to leave the Azulcremas for Tigres UANL, Uriel Antuna recently left Chivas of Guadalajara for Cruz Azul and Alexis Vega could renew his contract. Luis Romo is the only Mexican player with high possibilities to leave for Europe.
Meanwhile, rumors continue in MLS about the departure of players to Europe, including the possible transfer of Mexican-American Julian Araujo to England, while Mexico continues to be a local market.
