The question arises because the next match of the Coapa club is against Monterrey, a team facing the same problem as the Aguilas: the dismissal of their coach, Javier "Vasco" Aguirre, due to poor results.

Who is Fernando Ortiz?

Fernando Ortiz is an Argentine ex-soccer player and current coach, who until today was the coach of the U-20 team of Club America in Liga MX, but has been appointed interim technical director of the first team after the departure of Santiago Solari.

Ortiz will therefore have the titanic task of taking the reins of one of the most important clubs in Mexico, while the Azulcrema board resolves the problem of the lack of a head coach.

Where and when was Fernando Ortiz born?

Fernando Ortiz was born in Corral de Bustos, Province of Córdoba, Argentina, on December 25, 1977, and started his career as a soccer player in Boca Juniors, one of the most important clubs in Argentina and made his debut in the Argentine First Division on May 5, 1998.

His good performance in the Xeneize club led him to play for Mallorca B in the Third Division of Spanish soccer, but then he returned to play in 1997 for different clubs such as San Lorenzo de Almagro, Union de Santa Fe, Banfield, and Estudiantes.

In 2006 he came to Liga MX to play for Santos Laguna, being champion in the 2008 Clausura Tournament. He later had a fleeting spell with Club América and was loaned to Tigres of the UANL.

Ortiz would end his sporting career with Racing Club of Argentina, a club in which he played 77 games and scored 3 goals.

And on August 5, 2014, announced his retirement from soccer after failing to find a club in the winter market in Argentina, putting an end to a career in which he played 477 games and scored 25 goals.

What is Fernando Ortiz's experience as a coach?

The Argentine would start his career as a coach in 2016, when he managed the Estudiantes de la Plata reserve, to later arrive in 2017 the Club Sol de América of Paraguay, and later would fulfill the same function in Club Sportivo Luqueño.

In 2022, the coach accepted the challenge of coaching Club América U-20, a team he had led with a good rhythm, to take them to the number 8 place in the general table of the Liga MX 2022 of the same category.

With the Aguilas U-20 Ortiz achieved a record of 4 wins, 1 draw, and 3 defeats, until today he was entrusted with the mission of coaching Club America's first team.
