Lozano's profile has always been certainly respected in the Mexican national team environment. In that sense, the coach arrived as a candidate to reach Chivas, but it has been known that neither Hierro nor Amaury Vergara took into consideration the signing of Jaime Lozano as the team's coach.

What did Vergara reject from Lozano?

According to journalist Gomez Junco, the Mexican coach requested a process of at least three seasons and that he be respected. However, Amaury Vergara did not want to be tied to the coach for that long and wanted two seasons with results. The agreement never came and Fernando Hierro was able to get his friend Veljko Paunovic as the club's new coach.
