Ricardo Ferretti told ESPN this Friday that he is looking to continue his career as a manager in Mexico, despite receiving offers from many parts of the world in recent years. However, few teams in Liga MX are looking for a coach, as the options are reduced to four teams.
With the 2022 Clausura about to end, the transfer market has begun to move and Ferretti has few options to continue a career in which he has spent 30 uninterrupted years on the bench, having been with Pumas on two occasions, Chivas, Toluca, Morelia, Tigres on three occasions and Juárez.
It was with the border team that he achieved one of his worst records, leaving the team from Juarez in last place in the quotient table and causing them to pay a fine of 88 million pesos.
In spite of everything, 'Tuca' is one of the winningest coaches in the history of Mexican soccer and there are four teams looking for a coach for the next season.
The Rojiblancos are living the dream with Ricardo Cadena, but, so far, the board has not confirmed the Mexican as the official coach, as he continues as an interim coach. Much will depend on the results in the playoffs, but Cadena's future is uncertain, as it seems that only the title could assure him a permanent position as coach of one of the two most important teams in the country.
The Águilas are in a similar situation to Chivas with Fernando 'Tano' Ortiz, who took over as interim coach after the departure of Santiago Solari and took the team out of last place in the general table and put it directly into the playoffs. However, the board of directors has not ratified 'Tano' as a coach for the following season, despite the fact that Santiago Baños, executive president of the club, said that if he wins the title, he will automatically be renewed.
The Esmeraldas are without a coach and it was Christian Martínez who ended up as interim coach after the departure of Ariel Holan. The board is looking for a new coach and although 'Tuca' has all the credentials, it is Renato Paiva who is the most likely to take the reins of the Bajío team. So far there is nothing official.
La Máquina is in the playoffs under Juan Reynoso, who led the club to its first Liga MX title since 1997; however, the team has gone from strength to weakness and suffered key departures, so the Peruvian's future is in doubt and depends on a lot on results.
Although Reynoso has a valid contract and is not thinking of resigning, it will be up to the board of directors to make the final decision and see if they can open the door to a coach like Ferretti.
