After a fleeting step in Guatemalan soccer, where he played for just six months with Antigua GFC and helped them reach the semifinals of Guatemalan League, Carlos “Gullit” Peña suddenly became a free agent when Antigua decided to rescind his contract.
“Chapo” Montes’ gesture for Fair Play is to be applauded
Although this time the scandals or his behavior out of the pitch didn’t have anything to do with the termination of his contract, as Antigua owner said it was mainly because they couldn’t keep affording his salary, but he was an example in and out of the pitches for Guatemalan soccer.
And now, after more than a month without a job, “Gullit” Peña could have a new opportunity in Liga MX, as Jaime Lozano is considering signing him to Club Necaxa’s roster -he still can play in Liga MX as he was a free agent before February 1st-.
It’s no lie to say that “Gullit” Peña is a very talented soccer player that couldn’t use his skills as the problems outside the pitch were bigger than his abilities with the ball, which is why Lozano knows adding him would create a more competitive environment in Necaxa’s camp.
Will Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz return to Mexican soccer?
