The match began with a goal by the Azulcremas, scored by Henry Martín in the 42nd minute, which was quickly answered by a goal by Israel Reyes Romero in stoppage time of the first half.

And in the second half, the Águilas sealed Puebla's fate with a goal thanks to a penalty dictated by the VAR, which was scored by Diego Valdés. And as apparently Antony Silva, the Camoteros' goalkeeper moved early, the spot-kick was retaken as the first time Silva managed to deflect the shot by the América player.

However, on his second shot, Valdés made no mistake and made scored 2-1 in the 58th minute. From that minute on, the Águilas went on the attack to try to take advantage of the boost the goals gave them.

Thanks to this momentum, Alejandro Zendejas managed to score the third goal at minute 73, although it would not be the last goal of the match, as the referee decreed a penalty kick just after the end of regulation time.

The shot was taken by Fernando Aristeguieta, sealing the score at 3-2, with which the Águilas managed to eliminate Puebla and advance to the Liga MX semifinal.

Club América was bottom of the table and now goes to the Liga MX 2022 semifinal

The Clausura 2022 tournament was not easy for Club América and they went from being bottom in the tournament to the semifinals with authority, but for this to happen, many things had to happen.

To begin with, the team's board of directors decided to fire Santiago Solari as head coach of the team, and in his place was Fernando Ortiz, who was in charge of coaching the youth teams of the Coapa team, as interim coach.

And the change came at the right time since in Rounds 8 and 9 the Águilas were in last place in the standings, an unusual place for a top-level team like Club América.

In fact, during those dates, the team was the victim of mockery and memes from fans of rival teams, who celebrated the fact that the team was below clubs such as Mazatlán and Atlético San Luis

And even in Round 8, they were below Monterrey, a club that also had a tournament to forget.

However, with the arrival of "Tano" Ortiz, the Águilas started to win after the Clásico against Chivas, in which they tied 0-0. But from that match on, the Azulcremas had 6 wins in a row, with which they managed to enter the top 4 of the Liga MX 2022 clubs.

In this way, they remained faithful to their tradition of reaching the Liguilla directly, without the need to enter the playoffs, demonstrating their greatness and, above all, their ability to overcome challenges.

Is there any other club as big in Liga MX?
