América, according to ESPN, asked about the Corregidora Stadium, to play some matches next year, although they did not make a concrete approach.

"The veto is only for Gallos, for the board of directors. Querétaro has everything to host América," commented the governor of Querétaro, Mauricio Kuri.

The Águilas are looking for a stadium for next season, as the Azteca will be closed for remodeling. So far, talks are progressing with the owners of the Azulgrana Stadium, where Atlante currently plays.

"I think it will happen naturally, I have been told that América's idea is to go to several venues to play, but what better than Querétaro, which is two hours away. They will surely go to Puebla and other places as well," commented the governor of Querétaro.

Queretaro's stadium is suspended for the Gallos only

So far, the only ones who have already started the procedures to have the Corregidora Stadium for the next tournament are the owners of the Gallos de Querétaro, while the owners of América have only asked.

The Corregidora stadium has been banned for the games of the Gallos, after the brawl reported on March 5, in which 26 people were injured in a fight between supporters of the Blanquiazules and the Rojinegros.

The governor reiterated that the veto only applies to the Gallos so that in the event that América wishes to use the stadium as its home ground, it can do so with the public.

The remodeling plan for the Azteca is scheduled to start next year and several improvements are being considered for the building after it is known whether or not it is chosen for the 2026 World Cup, which will be organized by Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

For now, the most viable option for América is the Azulgrana stadium.
