Many Mexicans decide at some point in their careers to try their luck in leagues abroad. One of the most common destinations is usually Major League Soccer. However, despite having an illustrious career and being a reference in Mexico's national team, they are not entirely sure of success in the U.S. league.

More than once, a Mexican player has arrived in the final stages of his career in order to earn a large salary and see MLS as a retirement league. However, the level of the championship was much higher than they expected and they ended up wandering all over the competition. Here are some cases of Mexican soccer players who failed in MLS

Rodolfo Pizarro

The great star of Chivas Guadalajara was one of the great reinforcements of the recent Inter Miami project led by David Beckham. The Florida team wanted to break into the league in a big way and signed a player who was also wanted by some European clubs. Unfortunately, his arrival took an unexpected turn.
It turns out that Rodolfo Pizarro never gave the width and level expected in his time with the Miami club. For this reason, his time was fleeting and he ended up returning to Liga MX with Monterrey.

Rafael Márquez

In the list of players who did not shine is Rafa Márquez, the defender who marked an era with Barcelona and is even catalogued as the 'Worst franchise player in the history of MLS', when in 2010 he left Barça to sign with the New York Red Bulls and in two and a half seasons he spent a long time injured, criticized his teammates and left through the back door.

One of the most regrettable steps for what Rafa Marquez has represented in Mexican soccer. However, MLS simply did not play a good trick on him regarding his injuries.

Giovani Dos Santos

The LA Galaxy has always been characterized by looking for players of renown, to the point of having Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Steven Gerrard in its ranks.

Over the years Giovani dos Santos, who landed in the LA Galaxy. He arrived with a career with ups and downs, but with a certain name; however, he did not manage to improve his level or show conditions, he had if anything a good season and then went down, he arrived at America, but he did not rebound there either and today he is without a team.
