He was looking to become the next Mexican player in Europe but now he might not play for the next six months, as the team he was supposed to sign with doesn’t have any available spots on the roster.

Orbelín Pineda became a free agent after Apertura 2021 was finished and even though Cruz Azul wanted to retain him and even offered him a contract extension, he declined it as he was set to leave the club and join a European team.

But after Eduardo “Chacho” Coudet, Celta de Vigo’s coach informed that he hasn’t heard anything about Orbelín Pineda’s arrival to the club, his entrance to La Liga is on hold, and if he wants to play during the second round of the 2021/2022 season and be considered for Mexico National Team, he has to start looking for a new team as soon as possible.

What’s in store for Orbelín?

Although Pineda could be searching for a club outside Liga MX and that there’s still an option to sign with Celta and then be loaned to another team for the next six months, his safest bet is to go back to Cruz Azul, his former team, as he already knows the roster and how everything works behind the curtains.
