Geraldo Francisco dos Santos Javier, better known as Zizinho, began his career in Mexico when he was hired by the Águilas del América in 1980, where, without expecting it, he would create a dynasty with two of his sons, having the team he loved as a protagonist.

Zizinho

The former Azulcrema player, born in Pernambuco, had a great time in Mexico during his stay in Coapa, where he won a championship with América in the 83-84 season in the famous century final against Guadalajara. Dos Santos' father was in three stints at América and retired from soccer at that club.

Zizinho passed away at the end of last July due to Covid-19.

Giovani Dos Santos

Recently, the eldest of these brothers, Giovani dos Santos, wore the colors of América for the first time, where he had some good spells but had to leave six months ago due to a remarkable drop in his game. The most remembered play of Giovani Dos Santos was a great goal he scored against Chivas at the Azteca Stadium.

During Giovani's two-year stay with América, he played a total of 42 games, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

Jonathan Dos Santos

After Gio's time with América, Zizinho's death was announced, which could have marked Jonathan's future in his career, as months later he was announced by the Águilas to become a reinforcement for the Clausura 2022, so he will experience his first stage with the capital club.

A club source confirmed to ESPN that Dos Santos signed a two-year contract with the Águilas, with a salary lower than the $2 million per year he received in 2021 with LA Galaxy, but the source preferred not to mention the amount of Jonathan's salary at Club América.

The former Barcelona and Villarreal player, who arrives as a free agent after a five-year stint with the Galaxy, agreed with América's president, Santiago Baños, the terms of his contract, salary, bonuses for goals, and commissions to his agent.

In fact, América's directors have already started the corresponding procedures with Liga MX to register Dos Santos as a Mexican formed player (FM) so that he does not fill a foreign or non-Mexican formed (NFM) spot, just as they did in 2019 when they signed his brother Giovani.

"Happy to be in this great institution and it's a dream come true. From the cradle, I dreamed that one day I would have loved to play for América. My dad was here, Gio was here too, so the fact of being here makes the Dos Santos a historical family for América. It is an honor and a pleasure to fulfill a family dream. My father was working in heaven for this to become a reality and I am very happy to be able to fulfill a dream, which has come true after a long time of wanting to be here", were Jonathan's words upon his arrival at América on Thursday.
