After having their worst start in Liga MX, at least since the short tournaments were established in 1996, it seems like Club América are finally back on track, as they have three straight victories and have lost just one game of the las five that they've played.

Federico Viñas scored against FC Juárez, when was the last time he scored for América

During the first half of the season, Club América won just one game and tied three more, results that kept them at the bottom of the table and that got Santiago Solari sacked after eight rounds, as the Argentine coach never found a way to make them play as a team.

But since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz took over Las Águilas, they're completely transformed, playing a more offensive style, and having the possession for long periods of time, although they also know how to play without the ball.

But what makes this team so different to the one that Solari used to start is the fact that Ortíz isn't afraid of starting three strikers, something that the former Real Madrid coach was afraid of doing as he thought it would leave plenty of open space in the midfield.

Will Fernando Ortíz stay in América after Clausura 2022?

Ortíz decided to start the game with Alejandro Zendejas, Roger Martínez and Federico Viñas, players that responded to the trust that “Tano” gave them, but his decision also showed that Henry Martín doesn’t have the level to be part of the starting XI, which is why he benched him, something that Solari was afraid of doing.

Even if Martín is one of the strikers that Gerardo “Tata” Martino regularly calls, Ortíz showed that he’s trying to do the best for the team rather for just one player, something that will increase the probability for him to remain as Las Águilas coach once Clausura 2022 is over.

According to reports, Ortíz is under contract with Las Águilas until December of 2023, and even if he was signed to coach the U-20 squad, Emilio Azcárraga will be open to restructure it for him to remain as the coach of the first team, as the América owner found the coach that makes them play well and win.

Ortíz will rebuild the roster over the summer

Even if Las Águilas have a vast roster, “Tano” Ortíz knows that they must strengthen some positions, and although he has given some academy players minutes with the first team and plans on keep doing it, he also knows that América needs at least another striker and a center back.
