Club Querétaro might be living their last season in Liga MX as they have to be sold by the end of 2022 after the brawl that happened in Estadio Corregidora in the match between Querétaro and Atlas a couple years ago.

The current executive structure of the team was banned from any soccer-related activities for five years and the franchise returned to their former owners, Grupo Caliente and Jorgealberto Hank, who won’t be able to keep the team given that they already own Xolos de Tijuana.

There’s been several rumors pointing towards the sale of Gallos Blancos involving different a relocation to places that used to have professional soccer in the past, like Chiapas, Sinaloa, Morelia, Tampico-Madero and even Ciudad Neza.

The disappearance of Gallos Blancos from Liga MX looks almost inevitable, but with the visit of Ronaldinho to Mexican soil for the 2022 Hall of Fame Ceremony in Pachuca, the spark of a new hope for Querétaro shone.

Will Ronaldinho buy Querétaro?

It’s worth remembering that Ronaldinho played for a year in Club Querétaro, where he arrived in 2015 and helped them win their only trophy in their history: Copa MX. They also reached the only final they’ve played in Liga MX, although the ultimately lost against Santos Laguna with a 5-3 aggregate.

Querétaro holds a special place in Ronaldinho’s heart and given that he’s stated in the past that he’s looking to buy a team to remain involved in the soccer industry, this could be the perfect opportunity to start his investment.

Although he’s said in the past that his priority is having a club in Brazil where young prospects can develop, Querétaro opens a different world of opportunities for him, as Liga MX can be used as a platform to give those same prospects more projection.

How much does Querétaro is worth?

According to reports, the brand and franchise are worth around $22 million, but given the worth of the roster and other aspects, the interested party will have to pay up to $50 million, an achievable figure for Dinho, whose fortune is worth $100 million.
