After the brawl that happened in the stands of Estadio Corregidora, the future of Club Querétaro is on the air, as the franchise will be sold by the end of 2022, but there’s still uncertainty surrounding where they’re going to play next season.

Rumors have linked them to several places where there used to be a Liga MX team in the past, from Chiapas and Veracruz to the revival of Toros Neza or the return of Tampico Madero to Mexico’s top flight after 32 years.

But Mexican former striker Cuauhtémoc Blanco, who currently is governor of Morelos, has established conversations with the current owners to have them relocate the franchise in Morelos, where he offered the Estadio Coruco Díaz as the venue where Gallos Blancos play their home games.

Will Querétaro move to Michoacán?

Nothing transcended after the initial talks and given the reports that the governor of Sinaloa was interested in having a new team in Liga MX, as well as Chiapas, who are trying to revive the Jaguares franchise after it disappeared in 2017, it seemed like nothing was going to happen in Morelos.

But now, Liga MX and Club Querétaro made official that they will change the venue where they play their home games, at least for the next round, as they announced that the game against Atlético San Luis will be played in Estadio Morelos, on the capital of Michoacán, where Monarcas used to play their games.

Will Gallos play in Morelia next season?

After Monarcas Morelia were relocated, a group of investors took the matter on their hands and acquired a franchise that renamed as Atlético Morelia, who currently plays in Liga de Expansión, waiting for the chance to get promoted to Liga MX, as they’ve been one of the most consistent teams in the second-tier division in the past couple of years.

But with the decision of having Gallos Blancos playing their games in Estadio Morelos, possibly for the remainder of Clausura 2022 and with the support of Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Atlético Morelia might not have to wait that long and start playing in Liga MX next season.
