Pachuca will receive Atlas FC in the last game of the season on Sunday night for the second leg of the final of Clausura 2022, a game that Los Tuzos will have to win for two goals if they want to send the match to overtime or more than two to become Liga MX champions.

On the other hand, Atlas is looking to join Pumas and Club León as the only teams that have won back-to-back Liga MX titles since the short tournaments were established in 1996, a feat that is more impressive if it’s taken into consideration that before last season Los Rojinegros didn’t win a single title in over 71 years.

But the final of Clausura 2022 will also mean the last game that both teams have all their key players, as reports from W Deportes inform that Club América will be following closely the game, as they are looking to add one of the protagonists to their roster for Apertura 2022.

Who is the player that Club América wants?

The sources confirmed that the plan of Las Águilas is to sign more Mexican players, in part to give them more opportunities to play in the Mexican national team but also to avoid being penalized like Tigres for aligning more than eight players not formed in Mexico.

That’s why they already started conversations with Victor “Pocho” Guzmán, as the 27-year-old offensive midfielder has become one of the best players of the season, helping Los Tuzos to reach the final just a season after they were one of the most irregular teams in the league.

Although the arrival of Guillermo Almada helped Pachuca recover their form in just one season, the performances of Guzmán have helped them transcend, as he was a starter in all but one game and so far, has scored six goals and the same number of assistances. If Las Águilas were to acquire him, they will have to pay $8 million for his transfer.
