León arrives at the Club World Cup as the best team in Concacaf and not only for having won the Champions League, but because the ranking of the International Federation of Football History and Statistics also says so. Nicolás Larcamón's La Fiera is the best-positioned Concacaf team in the December update, far above other Liga MX and MLS clubs.

The emerald team is in 81st place with 132 points in the ranking, led by Manchester City with 314 points, followed by Real Madrid with 308 points and Inter Milan with 264 points. The next best-positioned team in Concacaf surprises by not being from Liga MX or MLS, but from the Costa Rican League with Alajuelense in 92nd place with 125.5 units.

While the Tigres, recently qualified for the Liga MX Final, are in 112th place with 116 points and then another Costa Rican club appears, Deportivo Saprissa in 130th position with 104 points. Rayados is hot on its heels in 133rd place with 102 points and then LAFC appears, the best-placed MLS team with 100.5 points in 136th place.

América, who will also play the Liga MX Final, is in 146th position with 97.5 points, while Toluca and Chivas are tied in 234th place with 72 points. It should be noted that the brand new MLS champion, Columbus Crew, does not appear in the ranking.
