Monterrey will start Clausura 2022 without Romo and Pizarro
Pizarro has to gain regularity before being considered and Romo tested positive to covid.
Monterrey will start the second leg of the 2021-22 Liga MX Season without the two additions they had during the offseason prior to Clausura 2022 as neither Luis Romo nor Rodolfo Pizarro was considered by Javier “Vasco” Aguirre to be part of the team, not even in the bench.
Luis Romo was already out of the game against Querétaro after he tested positive for Covid a couple of days ago, when the team informed that he was isolated due to the tests results. He joined Celso Ortiz and Rogelio Funes Mori as the only players with covid, although the two of them were able to clear protocols and start the game in the bench.
Rodolfo Pizzaro’s story is different, as he’s yet to catch up with the team after two months out of activity, as the 2021 MLS Season ended two months ago for him, where he wasn’t able to reach the playoffs with Inter Miami CF, his former team.
They already chose their new numbers
Earlier today, Monterrey revealed that Pizzaro and Romo have chosen their new numbers with the team. Pizarro, who used number 20 during his first stint with the club, will now wear number 30, and Romo, who used to play with the 7 at Cruz Azul, will wear number 4, as his last number is taken by Funes Mori.
