With Marcelo Michel Leaño's dismissal from Chivas and with the imminent departure of Matias Almeyda from the San Jose Earthquakes, both parties have a clear path for a reunion, the 'dream scenario' for the fans of the Rebaño Sagrado.

The path of Chivas and Matías Almeyda parted ways in 2018 after the Argentine tactician was dismissed from his position as coach of Guadalajara due to a lack of good results and problems with the Rojiblanca board.

After his great work in Liga MX, with five titles won with Chivas, Matias Almeyda migrated to the MLS with the San Jose Earthquakes, with a different challenge to that of Guadalajara, in the search to place one of the most modest squads in the United States in the top places.

Since Almeyda's departure, Chivas has not been on the rise

At Chivas, after the departure of Matías Almeyda, the Rojiblanco experienced complicated times, with the dismissal of its board and key players, as well as a generational change when Amaury Vergara took the reins after the death of his father.

With the departure of Almeyda and the many changes in the institution, the sporting aspect went downhill, after having five different managers, of which only Víctor Manuel Vucetich managed to get them back into the playoffs.

With each failure and the dismissal of the different coaches that paraded through Chivas, the number one request of Guadalajara's followers was a single name: Matías Almeyda. However, the high cost of the termination clause in the Argentinean coach's contract prevented his possible return season after season.

Now, with the dismissal of Marcelo Michel Leaño and the imminent departure of Matias Almeyda, the possibility of a second stint with Guadalajara may become the right option to calm the spirits of the Rojiblancos, in addition to returning to the bench the second most successful coach in the history of the institution in the quest to return Chivas to the top of the table.
