Liga MX transfers: Uriel Antuna goes to Cruz Azul and Roberto Alvarado to Chivas

With just a few days before the Christmas holidays begin, transfers are being confirmed for Liga MX and the most recent is that of Uriel Antuna, who goes to Cruz Azul, while Roberto Alvarado goes to Chivas. 

The exchange between these clubs was a strategy on the part of the Chivas board of directors to be able to give Antuna a way out, once the transfer to America fell through. 

Surely the fans of the Rebaño Sagrado are happy that Uriel Antuna did not go to America, the most hated rival of Club Deportivo Guadalajara. 

Although the transfer has not yet been confirmed by any of the clubs, the Mexican media have taken the transfer for granted and affirm that confirmation will be given in a matter of hours or days. 

Why is Uriel Antuna going to Cruz Azul? 

The main reason for El Brujo's decision not to go to America was the salary. 

According to information from Salary Sport, Antuna is the ninth highest-paid player at Chivas in the Apertura 2021 tournament. 

Therefore, upon learning that he was likely to join the Aguilas, the player asked for a considerable increase in his salary, although the exact amount he requested is still unknown. 

This request from El Brujo makes sense considering that America is perhaps the most financially powerful team in Liga MX. 

However, when he realized that the salary he was offered was not what he expected, Antuna refused to go to the club. 

Although the transfer has not yet been confirmed by any of the clubs, the Mexican media have taken the transfer for granted and affirm that confirmation will be given in a matter of hours or days. 

Therefore, Chivas decided to change the project and made a trade with Cruz Azul, sending Antuna to La Maquina in exchange for Roberto Alvarado. 

And not only that, in the same move 

In addition to Antuna, another red and white element will arrive at Cruz Azul: Alejandro Mayorga, who will join the Celeste on a loan without an option to buy.

"Piojo" Alvarado could provide the Rebaño Sagrado with a little more explosiveness in attack. 

Among the main characteristics that the player possesses are great dribbling, great agility, quick decision-making, explosiveness in attack, cutting to the center, and excellent reading of the game.

However, in the Grita México A21, he was not able to show off those qualities as he only played 14 games, 12 of them as a starter, and scored only 4 goals with Cruz Azul for a total of 914 minutes on the field. 

However, the player is expected to strengthen the Chivas attack and also, to support ball circulation in the midfield, a place where the Rojiblancos had many problems in the last tournament.  

Last season, Cruz Azul finished in 8th place in the overall standings, while Chivas finished in 10th place, so it is expected that with these changes both teams will be able to perform better in the Clausura 2022.
