Uruguayan winger Lucas Rodríguez Trezza is on the verge of joining Liga MX 2022 to play for Atlas, according to information from the Mexican press.

Today the pages of the main sports newspapers of the Aztec country were filled with articles about the 24-year-old Uruguayan winger, who currently plays for Montevideo City Torque

If this transfer is confirmed, the player would be the second reinforcement of the Zorros, current champions of the tournament, who had only signed defender Emanuel Aguilera, former player of Club America

According to the media Super Deportivo, the transfer is almost a done deal and the club is only expected to confirm it in the next few hours

The player would arrive at Guadalajara on loan for 1 year with an option to buy. In recent days it was known that the player received offers from Atlas, and also from a Major League Soccer club.

But everything seems to indicate that the 24-year-old Uruguayan winger decided to join the current champion of the Mexican League 2022

Who is Lucas Rodríguez Trezza, the possible reinforcement of Atlas?

The player currently plays for Montevideo City Torque, a team that competes in Uruguay's First Division, and was also a participant in the Copa Sudamericana 2021.

Rodríguez Trezza has been with this club since 2019 and in all this time the player has scored 12 goals in 79 games, in addition to providing 7 assists. The player has the necessary characteristics to strengthen the Foxes' attack.

For example, 87 percent of his passes have been successful, 74 percent of his passes with the opposition have also been successful and he has won 60 percent of the balls he has played.

Therefore, the player has the characteristics that Diego Cocca needs for the balls in the opponent's area to circulate without difficulty and reach the legs of Julio Furch, the team's star player.

His club, originally founded under the name Club Atlético Torque, changed its name on April 6, 2017, when the conversion of the club to a sports limited company and its purchase by City Football Group was confirmed.

In this way, the club joined the conglomerate that includes Manchester City, New York City, Melbourne City, Girona FC, Yokohama Marinos, and other clubs that are also owned by this group or where the group has a stake. On January 22, 2020, it was renamed and took its current name.

Lucas Rodríguez Trezza would be the Zorros' second reinforcement

If his arrival to Liga MX is confirmed, he would be the second reinforcement for Atlas, which only acquired defender Emanuel Aguilera in this winter market.

The team had to focus during the transfer market on making sure that Julio Furch, the player who scored the penalty that broke the curse of not having won the league in more than 70 years, was not taken away from them.

And they had to protect him, as even Club America wanted to take him away. Fortunately for the Zorros, Furch stayed with them and they managed to beat Atlético San Luis with a score of 1-0.
