Controversy explodes! Liga MX is already analyzing sanctions against Felinos for improper alignment in the Tigres vs. Atlas duel, a match in which the team coached by Miguel Herrera was defeated with a last-minute goal. What did the coach say about it?

In the match, not only did the Felinos start the game-winning but ended up losing against a team worth many millions of dollars less than the team from Nuevo León.

A very important rule in Liga MX was also violated, which could be very costly for the club that was a serious candidate for the title but was defeated at home and in front of its fans by Diego Cocca's team.

The controversy over improper alignment exploded. The guilty party? Tigres

In yesterday's match, in which the first finalist of the Clausura 2022 Tournament was defined, Atlas started winning the duel in the second half with a goal by Julián Quiñones, which was answered by a hat-trick by André Pierre-Gignac, and a goal by Igor Lichnovsky.

These goals were followed by the last of the match, scored by Aldo Rocha, which made the score 4-2, but the aggregate score was 4-5, making Atlas the first finalist of the competition.

However, a terrible violation of Liga MX regulations occurred in the game, as Miguel Herrera fielded 9 NFM players (not trained in Mexico) when the maximum number of players is 8.

According to Liga MX regulations, article 48 stipulates that at least three Mexicans (trained in Mexico) must remain on the field.

A maximum of 10 Non-Mexican Trained players can be called up, and a maximum of 8 can start, but the 2 who come in as substitutes must be for 2 NFM. In this way, the Tigres coach incurred a serious offense in Mexican soccer, for which he even had to come out and acknowledge his mistake and ask for forgiveness.

What did Miguel Herrera say about it?

"My mistake, a lack of concentration because I was thinking about the goals, I already had the changes in my head when Hugo told me that I couldn't do it anymore because of a blow, I didn't realize it, it was completely my responsibility", were the words that the coach pronounced in the press conference after the match.

Those were the coach's words about the situation, who also commented:

"I feel frustrated, we are more frustrated because we did not play a good match in the first leg, we did not score, but they were accurate and took advantage of it. After the comeback, the team tried and in the end, it's how the game is, you whistle, decisions are made, today we didn't reach a Final, but I am calm about the attitude of the group, we played a match with determination, which is what is most important in this commitment of the boys".

Liga MX is already analyzing the sanction against Tigres

The incident did not go unnoticed by Liga MX, which has already turned the case over to the Disciplinary Commission, which will be in charge of determining the corresponding punishment for the offending club, Tigres in this case.

"Liga MX informs that, based on Article 48 of the Competition Regulations for the 2021-2022 Season, which establishes the participation of Untrained Players during a match, what happened in the Second Leg Semifinal of the #GritaMéxicoC22 Tournament between Tigres and Atlas will be turned to the Disciplinary Commission for analysis and resolution," is what can be read in the statement that the body released.

According to what several sports analysts have analyzed on the subject, what should happen would be that Tigres should lose the match 0-2 since the goals scored by the offender would be erased so that the aggregate score would end up 0-5 in favor of Atlas.
