Confirmations of players joining and leaving teams for the next tournament are already beginning. And in one of the most striking transfers of Liga MX 2022, it was confirmed that Nicolás Benedetti left America to join Mazatlán FC

According to media reports, this transfer had already been negotiated for more than six months.

However, at the time of the negotiations, the Colombian player did not want to go to Mazatlan and asked the Aguilas for another opportunity to stay with the team.

And everything seems to indicate that his request was heard by the board of directors. However, the player was not able to consolidate his place in the team and the time came for him to change clubs.

"Thank you, Nicolás Benedetti, for defending our colors. We wish you every success in your loan with Mazatlán," was the message America posted on their social networks to say goodbye to the player.

Why did Benedetti leave America and go to Mazatlan?

From the beginning, America's coach, Santiago Solari, made it clear to Benedetti that he was not part of his plans for the Apertura 2021 tournament.

During the last tournament, the player only managed 243 minutes of play in eight games, and of those games, he only started three and did not score any goals.

His stay at America was marred by injuries and when he was at his best, he suffered a fracture of the fifth metatarsal in his right foot.

As if that were not enough, he also suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right foot.

According to ESPN, the Aguilas coaching staff spoke with the player and was very clear about his situation with the team.

In the conversation, the Colombian was told that he is not seen as a fundamental player for the team and if he were to stay, he would have a very secondary role in the squad.

And would not even be considered for matches when his place in the lineup is needed.

The same media highlighted that according to their sources, Solari himself did not see him as a player who could make a difference or help the soccer they are trying to develop with the Águilas.

In addition, his long history of injuries does not generate confidence in the coaching staff and company.

With this scenario, it is not surprising that the player has left the Coapa team to seek more minutes and prominence with his new team

The other option to which the player said no, to go to Sinaloa

Just yesterday, information was circulating that Nicolás Benedetti was playing for teams outside of Liga MX. The strongest rumor was that Deportivo Cali was the closest to sign the player.

"I'm waiting to see options, for now, I'm still an América player, I don't know what will happen, but my goal is to play, to be important in some team", said the striker in an interview with VBar, from Caracol Radio.

The striker said: "If it is to return to Colombia if it is to stay there, I am excited to get back into rhythm, to show all my potential and wherever I go to be able to be calm and play, which is the most important thing now".
