Julián Araujo closes the door to Chivas: “I want to go to a higher league”

After rumors going around of Chivas interest in LA Galaxy’s left-back Julián Araujo, the 20-year-old spoke up about his future and his arrival in Liga MX, something he’s not planning on doing on the near future, as he plans on playing for LA Galaxy this season unless an offer from Europe comes.

I don’t know if this will be my last season in the Los Angeles Galaxy. I have goals, I have ambitions, I have dreams of going to play in higher level leagues. Going to Europe is my goal, it’s my dream. I’m taking things day by day, I’m not focused on that now, when the time comes I will.”

He also mentioned that for now he’s focused on LA Galaxy, as he’s under contract with the Galaxy until 2025 and that he’s not pressured on leaving MLS, as neither he nor his agent are actively looking for a new team. “What’s for me, will be for me.”

Araujo decided to represent Mexico National Team

As it’s becoming more and more usual, players with Mexican and American nationalities are facing a tough decision on who to represent. In Araujo’s case, he opted to play for El Tri, with whom he already debuted las December on a match against Chile that ended in a 2-2 draw.
