America is the latest team to show interest in the midfielder who finished his contract with LA Galaxy, but the salary is one of the barriers.

Following his departure from the LA Galaxy, Mexican midfielder Jonathan dos Santos has had no lack of "girlfriends", the latest to join the list is America.

According to ESPN, the 31-year-old midfielder has been in talks in the last few days with Tigres, Houston Dynamo, and most recently with America, which could mean that one of these three clubs could be his next stop for 2022.

Tigres and America approach Jonathan Dos Santos

ESPN commented that the first Mexican club to approach the youngest of the Dos Santos brothers was Tigres since manager Miguel Herrera has always liked Jona's style of play. However, América has also made contact with the midfielder in the last few hours with the possibility of a contract proposal for next year.

However, the salary will be an issue to be resolved, as Jonathan, who will turn 32 next April, received US$2 million in 2021 with the Galaxy, in the fifth and final year of his contract with the Los Angeles side, a salary that is above what Tigres and América would be willing to pay for the midfielder, brother of Giovani dos Santos.

Pedro Aquino possible departure

The Peruvian midfielder could be on his way out due to an offer coming from a Premier League side. If the transfer goes on, there would be a gap in America´s midfield which Jonathan Dos Santo could fill in an excellent way but nothing is confirmed yet.

Houston Dynamo offers the largest amount of money

Houston Dynamo is the club that has made the best economic proposal to Jona, offering him the same 2 million USD for 2022 season in the MLS, although sources told ESPN that Dos Santos is clear that his main objective next year is to be part of the Mexican national team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup and he knows that practically his only opportunity is to play in Liga MX, in order to recover his place in the Tricolor.

After playing 26 games, 22 as a starter, for a total of 1,816 minutes in what was a very irregular season with the Californian team. Los Angeles Galaxy decided not to renew the contract of Jonathan, who received his last call-up to the national team in the October FIFA date, although he did not play minutes in the draw against Canada and the victories over Honduras and El Salvador.

For November's FIFA matchday, when El Tri lost to the United States and Canada, coach Gerardo Martino did not even consider him in the call-up list, one of Jona's concerns and for which he would rather play for the first time in Liga MX than stay abroad, either in the United States or another country.

On Friday, Jonathan dos Santos posted on his Instagram account a series of photos packing his bags at what will no longer be his home in Los Angeles and then at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the message "Guess where."

For now, his future seems closer to Mexico.
