Club América have already closed two signings ahead 2022 Clausura tournament. Chilean offensive midfielder Diego Valdés arrived from Santos Laguna and Jonathan Dos Santos, former Los Angeles Galaxy player joined Solari´s team last Thursday. However, America´s board is closed to reaching an agreement with Ecuadorian player Joao Joshimar Rojas, who plays as a left or right-winger, to become their third reinforcement for the next tournament.

It should be noted that Joao Joshimar Rojas is not the same player who played for Cruz Azul and Monarcas Morelia teams years ago. He was called Joao Robin Rojas, today he is 32 years old and currently plays for Brazilian side Sao Paulo.

Who is Joao Joshimar Rojas?

Joao Joshimar Rojas plays for Ecuadorian side Club Sport Emelec. The player could join América for between USD 2.5 or 3 million. According to Transfermarkt, the Ecuadorian costs 800,000USD, however, players from South America are sold to the Mexican market for an amount higher than the price of his card.

Joshimar is 24 years old and was born in El Guabo, Ecuador. With 'Los Millonarios' he has played mainly on both wings. Joao has played a total of 139 games, in which he has scored 25 goals and 24 assists.

The mid-range shot is one of the player's main characteristics, as he has been seen scoring several times from outside the box and his power and accuracy stand out.

How will the Ecuadorian fit in América´s side?

Rojas' position seems to have a place in the system used by the Mexican coach. Solari usually takes the field with a 4-2-3-1 starting formation. Miguel Layún, Mauro Lainez, Salvador Reyes, Roger Martínez and even Luis Fuentes have alternated positions. Although the Ecuadorian regularly plays on the left, he could also play on the right but Joao's preferred foot is the left.

Emelec fans have started to say goodbye to Joao Rojas

Reports from Ecuador say that América has finalized the signing of Ecuadorian Joao Rojas, one of the best players in his native league and hundreds of Emelec fans have begun to wish farewell to.

What´s next for América?

América will now only be looking for a central defender to complete the squad and hope to sign him before the season starts on January 7.

América has not only had new arrivals at Coapa, but also departures. This is the case of Renato Ibarra, who left the club for Xolos de Tijuana. Sebastián Córdova left the club to join Tigres UANL, following a request from Miguel Herrera, the coach of Tigres. Nicolás Castillo and Nicolás Benedetti also left for Necaxa and Mazatlán, respectively.
