Club América managed to beat Club Puebla in Estadio Azteca with a 3-2 score that gave them the ticket to the semifinals, with goals scored by Henry Martín, Diego Valdés, and Alejandro Zendejas, in a game that was marked by the controversial decisions of the referee.

For La Franja, Israel Reyes scored the equalizer with a bicycle kick that left Guillermo Ochoa out of the play and Fernando Aristeguieta scored the second goal via penalty kick, who was the top scorer of Club Puebla in Clausura 2022 scored the second goal, although it was not enough.

Club América now waits for their rival in the semifinals, as they still don’t know who they will play with, given that depending on the results in the other three quarterfinal games, they can face either CF Pachuca, Tigres or Atlas.

But the game in Estadio Azteca helped Fernando “Tano” Ortíz to have a closer look of Israel Reyes, player that Las Águilas have been trying to acquire from Club Puebla since the 2021-22 season started, as they know they need to improve their defense for next season.

What did Israel Reyes do after his goal?

The talent that the 21-year-old center-back has showed during his stint with Puebla, where he has become an essential player in Nicolás Larcamón’s starting XI, has earned him two caps with the Mexican national team and his probable call up to Qatar 2022.

In América are no strangers to his talent and over the summer will pursue his addition once again, something that the Mexican international is aware of, which is why he sent a message to the Azulcremas after his goal in Estadio Azteca.

Just a minute before the first half ended, Reyes scored an authentic ‘Golazo’ as he equalize the score with a bicycle kick inside the goal box, and after he celebrated with his teammates, he pound his chest right where La Franja’s badge is located, showing his compromise with Club Puebla.

Will he arrive at Club América?

One of the things that Nicolás Lacamón requested to Club Puebla to remain as their coach was to keep the foundation of the roster and acquire quality players, something that makes difficult the departure of Reyes.
