With the current crisis in which Club América are going through, it’s clear that things will keep changing in the structure, as the dismissal of Santiago Solari of Las Águilas a couple weeks ago was just the beginning of the rebuilding process.

Daniel "Ruso" Brailovsky has already contacted his first additions for Club América

Solari left América at the bottom of the table of Clausura 2022, something that hadn’t happened since 2017, when Ricardo La Volpe was coaching Las Águilas. But that wasn’t the worst part, as the 6 points they earned after eight rounds were the lowest since the 1957-58 season.

Back then, the Azcárraga family hadn’t taken over the club, as they acquired it a year later, meaning that Clausura 2022 could become the worst season in Las Águilas history since the Azcárragas own the club, as it seems they already gave up.

The bright side for América followers is that the changes that are coming for the Azulcrema squad will start a new era, guided by Daniel “Ruso” Brailovsky, who won three straight Liga MX titles as a player back in the 80s, and then coached Las Águilas briefly during the 00s.

Will he replace Santiago Baños?

Is yet to be seen if the arrival of Brailokvsy is to replace Santiago Baños, who hasn’t helped Club América to win a single title after Miguel Herrera gave them their last title in 2018, or if Baños will remain in América’s structure and “El Ruso” will have a different position.

One thing is clear, whichever position he takes, Brailovsky will be the man taking the decisions in Las Águilas, even if Santiago Baños keeps his job as Las Águilas chairman, not only because he knows what the Azulcremas are lacking, but also because he feels a connection with the club.

What other changes will there be in Club América?

Brailovsky knows that the roster needs changes for the next season, as some of the players in the current squad haven’t played at the minimum level needed to be part of a club like América. The first position he’ll improve is forward, as it’s clear that Henry Martín is not a player suited for Las Águilas.

Federico Viñas will join Martín, as he has faded since he arrived in El Nido. The Paraguayan Richard Sánchez is the third player on his list, as he lost the level showed on previous years. The last player that will leave El Nido is Mauro Lainez, who even Fernando “Tano” Ortíz already erased from the roster.
