Even after Monterrey managed to beat 3-1 Al-Jazira SC for the fifth place of 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, the performance of Rayados in Abu Dhabi was disappointing, to say the least, as they couldn’t reach the semifinals after losing 1-0 against Egyptian side Al-Ahly.

Adding their failure to the current situation in Liga MX, where Monterrey has won just one of their last 8 games, some players are getting tired of how Javier Aguirre manages the squad, as they don’t play like the highest-value roster of Mexican soccer.

Instead, they’ve been eliminated in quarterfinals two times and things point towards a similar fate this season if thing don’t change soon. That’s why Rogelio Funes Mori is considering agreeing to arrive in Club América for the next season if Las Águilas opened the possibility.

Rogelio Funes Mori numbers with Monterrey

Since arriving in La Pandilla in 2015 out of Benfica, “El Mellizo” has played a total of 268 games wearing Rayados colors. So far, he’s scored a total of 134 goals for Monterrey, making him the all-time top scorer in the club’s history. He’s also assisted 34 times.
