Thanks to the victory over Club Puebla in the quarterfinals, Club América will face CF Pachuca in the semifinals, looking to improve their good streak against the leader of Clausura 2022, a series that will ser to ratify why Fernando “Tano” Ortíz is the best option for Las Águilas moving forward.
Fernando Ortíz already knows which players will arrive at Club América once he’s ratified as coach
Since “El Tano” Ortíz was named interim coach of Club América in Week 9 of Clausura 2022, after Santiago Solari left Las Águilas at the bottom of the table with only six points thanks to one victory and three draws, the Azulcremas have become one of the best teams in Liga MX.
They will arrive at Estadio Azteca on Thursday night with ten straight games without knowing what a defeat is, as they now have seven victories and three draws. The good results are thanks to the planification that Ortíz has done since the first day he trained with the first team.
Instead of getting stuck on one formation that prevented the players from having an optimal performance, like it happened with Solari, Ortíz has built his squad around the strengths of the players, although that meant to leave out from the starting XI some of the players that were usuals for Solari.
Among the players that Ortíz usually starts, Luis Fuentes is one of the ones that surprise the most, as the 35-year-old left-back had a secondary role in Club América since Salvador Reyes arrived at Las Águilas from Club Puebla for the 2021-22 Liga MX season.
Reyes has reverted to a back-up role with Ortíz, which is why he’s trying to leave Club América looking for more playing time, as he was one of the best Mexican left-backs in Liga MX throughout 2021 with both América and Puebla.
One of the teams that is looking to reinforce is Chivas, as they know that they need to improve the competition within the roster if they don’t want to have another season as irregular as Clausura 2022 was, although the price that América is asking will be the main problem.
When the 24-year-old polyfunctional left-back arrived at América, his market value had recently reevaluated to $2.3 million. But now that he is going to finish his first year wearing Las Águilas colors, it has increased even more, as Chivas will have to pay up to $4.2 million for his transfer.
After Toluca vs Bayer Leverkusen, the Germans could take a Club America homegrown player
