After Club América’s lost 3-1 their game against Club Pachuca for the sixth round of Clausura 2022, it became more than obvious that both the players and Santiago Solari are lacking the confidence needed to face the uphill struggle that will be the remainder of Clausura 2022.

Álvaro Fidalgo wasn’t on Club América’s starting XI as Televisa imposed a player

The apparition of Miguel Layún on Solari’s starting XI after the two-week suspension he faced didn’t benefit Las Águilas, as he played on a position he had never played before and also sent Álvaro Fidalgo to the bench.

Guillermo Ochoa couldn’t stand the weaknesses showed in defense by Las Águilas, especially on the second goal of Pachuca, as Layún looked lost on his new position, Jorge Meré wasn’t able to block Avilés Hurtado, and Richard Sánchez couldn’t keep up with Hurtado’s speed.

What’s in store for Club América?

It’s clear that, since Emanuel Aguilera left Las Águilas, they’ve been suffering defensively, a problem that they will have to solve in trainings during the weekend, as Club América will face the first Clásico of the season against Pumas next week, on a game that could mean the end of Solari if the Azulcremas lose.
