The final of the Clausura 2022 Tournament between Pachuca and Atlas has been decided. The clash pits the reigning champion, the Rojinegros, against the best team in the regular phase, the Tuzos, so a first-class spectacle is expected.

The reason why Cocca stayed at Atlas and renewed contract

Atlas and Pachuca will define the first 90 minutes of a final that promises many emotions with two well-directed teams that play good soccer. The reigning champions will be looking to defend their title and fight for a second championship at any cost, and the Rojinegros want to be the third team in the history of short tournaments to achieve this milestone.

However, the Tuzos are not easy prey because they were the team that played the best soccer and that is why they took the lead in the tournament. Guillermo Almada's pupils found a balance between young Mexican players and quality foreigners that boosted the team's overall play.

What statistics does Almada ignore?

Guillermo Almada is betting on the present: "My players don't even care". Even so, Atlas has the trend in its favor in third place vs. first place in the Liga MX finals.

Pachuca finished as leader of the Clausura 2022. It hopes to repeat for the third time in its history the record of being the best team in the regular phase and lift the title after playing in the playoffs.

"What we are going to see is two teams that will try to impose their style of play at the Jalisco Stadium and at the Hidalgo stadium, with two very well-defined systems that we already know," said Guillermo Almada at the conference prior to the first leg.

In the statistics, only eight regular phase leaders have managed to become champions, with Pachuca winning on two of those occasions.

For its part, Atlas has the advantage that the third-place team has won five of six finals against the first-place team.

In turn, Atlas is bidding to be the thirteenth team to finish in third place in the Liguilla and become Liga MX champion.

"We had regularity for two tournaments, we did our job and now we are in a second final. We set ourselves the goal of being two-time champions from the start of the tournament and we are on the verge of achieving it', commented Diego Cocca, coach of Atlas.
