French striker André-Pierre Gignac has renewed his contract with Tigres for two more seasons, meaning he will stay with the feline squad until 2025 and will earn a juicy salary that does not compare to what Gullit Peña earns in the Middle East.

According to the Salary Sports portal, the French striker receives an annual salary of 4.6 million dollars, which means he will earn close to 9 million dollars for the two seasons he will play with the feline team. In an interview with Marc Crosas, Andre-Pierre Gignac confessed that these will be his last two years with the feline team.
With the departure of Guillermo Ochoa and Frenchman Florian Thauvin from Liga MX, one of the highest paid players is Gignac. The Frenchman has an abysmal difference with the other players, having a huge salary that puts him above the rest.
Despite been born in France, André-Pierre Gignac has also the Mexican citizen for all his contribution years in the country. Gignac started his career in France, in Football Club Lorient. It was the year 2004 when he officially debuted.
He spent 3 years in the club, where he managed to score 11 goals and provided 6 assists in 54 games. After promotion with the team, he concluded his first professional experience.
After FC Lorient, Gignac was transferred to Toulouse Football Club, a 1st division French team. Toulouse normally is one of the toughest teams in Ligue 1. He made very good seasons there, where he was Ligue 1 top scorer in 2009. Thanks to his 42 goals in 3 seasons with Toulouse, he received the call from one of the top and most traditional teams in France, Olympique de Marsella.
With Olympique Marsella, Gignac won his firsts career trophies. In 2011 and 2012 he conquered the French league cup, and also the French Super Cup in 2011. During his 5 years at the club, he was one of the most important players in the squad. He almost played 200 games, but stopped in 188 where he participated of 90 G+A, with 77 goals and 13 assists.
Later in one of the strangest transfer moves in football world, André-Pierre Gignac decided to make a move to Liga MX in Mexico. He was the new signing of Tigres UANL, where he continues playing until today.
He found his place in the world in the Mexican team. He is one of the most important strikers in Liga MX history. Tigres didn't pay anything for him, as he arrived as free player. In the Mexican club, André-Pierre Gignac has played 378 games until now, with a record of 210 goals.
With Tigres UANL he have won lots of trophies. He won Liga MX 5 times, in the years 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2023. One of the most important tournament he won was the CONCACAF Concachampions in 2020. The final was held in Orlando, and it allowed him and Tigres to participate in the Club World Cup, where he scored 3 goals in 3 games.
In Liga MX he have won many individual awards these years. He was part of the team of the tournament for 5 years in a row, from 2015 to 2019. He also was top scorer in 4 tournaments and recently became the historical top scorer of Tigres UANL.
Apart from soccer, André-Pierre Gignac felt in love with Mexico. His wife and him decided to obtain the Mexican citizenship back in 2019. This was a gesture that Tigres UANL took in the best terms, as he continued playing for the team but as Mexican, leaving the foreign player rol for other teammates.
Gignac has also played several times with the French national team. He even was part of the Euro 2016 squad, where France were runners up losing the final 1-0 against Cristiano's Portugal. In the national team he played since 2009, but his last call up for the first team was in 2016. He disputed different competences, including the Olympics in the year 2021 in Japan with the U-23 team.
