According to W Deportes Radio, Fernando Ortiz had talked to Santiago Baños to express his desire to keep Uruguayan striker Federico Viñas in the Azulcrema team, in order to complement the arrival of new striker Jonathan Rodríguez.

Since Federico Viñas was placed on transferable status, América would keep the Uruguayan striker for one more semester at the request of Fernando Ortiz, who trusts the young striker, rather than Henry Martin.
