Cruz Azul's hopes of once again having a striker who can stand out and lead the scoring charts could be reflected thanks to the recent arrest of former Cementero director Víctor Garcés.

After almost two years of searching for embezzlement, the director Víctor Garcés has reportedly been captured, and it is hoped that former president Guillermo 'Bily' Álvarez will be found and brought to justice for the crimes of which they are accused.

If their guilt is proven, Cruz Azul could receive close to US$10 million, the same amount that would have been embezzled during the administration of Bily Álvarez together with Víctor Garcés until 2020.

How much does it cost Cruz Azul to sign Edinson Cavani?

Edinson Cavani has not confirmed his presence with Cruz Azul, due to salary issues, as the striker earns close to US$7 million per year. If La Máquina recovers the lost money, it could sign the Uruguayan striker.
