The regular round of the Clausura 2022 ended and Cruz Azul failed to make it into the top four. The Cementeros were very irregular in the tournament and in the reclassification match they barely managed to win on penalties against Necaxa. The dynamic of the squad does not look very convincing under Juan Reynoso and some players have even been erased by the Peruvian.

The Peruvian coach has been particularly harsh on three players: Rómulo Otero, Jaiber Jiménez and Luis Ángel Mendoza. None of the aforementioned has been important for the team's play, and their place in the current squad is residual compared to the rest of their teammates:

Jaiber Jimenez

The most ignored of the three. The Mexican defender has not seen a single minute throughout the Clausura 2022 and his role is limited to participations with the U-20 team. This semester he totaled 652' minutes with Luis Orozco's team.

Romulo Otero

The Venezuelan midfielder's time as a Cruz Azul player seems to be numbered. According to information from the newspaper El Universal Deportes, he had a clash with Reynoso that almost came to blows. In this Clausura, he only played 123' minutes and in the last few games, he has not even been called up.

Luis Angel Mendoza

The case of Quick is similar to that of Jaiber. He spent most of the tournament in the ranks of the U-20 team; however, with the first team he got 199' minutes on the pitch and even three starts.
