After parting ways with Marcelo Michel Leaño in mid-April given the poor results that the Mexican coach achieved during his stint as Chivas’s coach -he only won five of the 22 games that he managed-, El Rebaño Sagrado have been looking for a coach to replace him.

Ricardo Cadena vs Diego Aguirre for Chivas: Vergara family would already have a favorite

Although it seemed like Ricardo Cadena, who was named interim coach until the end of Clausura 2022, was going to be able to remain in El Rebaño’s dugout given the good performances that Chivas had since he took over, the elimination against Atlas in quarterfinals meant the end of his short stint.

Even before Chivas fell against Atlas FC in another edition of the Clásico Tapatío, Ricardo Peláez, Chivas’s sporting director, was already interviewing candidates to take over the team once El Rebaño’s participation came to an end.

But so far, they haven’t decided who is going to be the next coach, as there were five candidates that presented their projects to Peláez but given the time that they are taking to decide, Cruz Azul already agreed to sign one of them.

Who is the coach that will arrive at Cruz Azul?

Cruz Azul decided to part ways with Juan Reynoso this week after the Peruvian coach couldn’t win a new title this semester, the only objective that they had established for him after building a squad to compete for both Liga MX and CONCACAF Champions League.

It didn’t matter that he was the coach that gave La Máquina a new Liga MX title after 23 years of drought, Jaime Ordiales decided to finish the relationship with the Peruvian coach, as he already had a few options to replace him.

And according to reports from sports journalist Jorge Ramos from ESPN, they managed to agree with the Uruguayan coach Diego Aguirre, who was the favorite to arrive at Chivas, to be the successor of Reynoso, as El Rebaño took too long and didn’t know how to close the deal.

Who is going to be the next coach of El Rebaño?

After losing their first option to Cruz Azul and given the short time that is left before the preseason starts, they have just one week to convince either Ricardo Ferretti or Juan Carlos Osorio. In case they don’t reach an agreement, it will be Ricardo Cadena who remains as coach for one more season.
