After seven rounds of Clausura 2022, Cruz Azul has established themselves as contenders for Liga MX title, as they currently stand 4, just behind Club Puebla, Club Pachuca and Tigres, who along Cruz Azul are undoubtedly the best teams of the season.

Cristian Tabó will miss time with Cruz Azul, again

But that hasn’t stopped problems to follow Los Cementeros, as first, the dismissal of Álvaro Dávila and the return of Jaime Ordiales built tension within Cruz Azul structure and reports even suggested that Juan Reynoso had presented his resignation letter, as he doesn’t have a good relationship with Ordiales.

After that, the tight schedule that La Máquina has already started diminishing the roster, as Cruz Azul lost Cristián Tabó for at least 15 days after he resented from an injury he had while still playing for Club Puebla.

With the game against Santos Laguna, La Máquina has played six games in February and counting Sunday’s game, they will have seven more games in the next 21 days, as they are playing both Liga MX and CONCACAF Champions League.

Lack of opportunities for some of the players

Not even the large number of games that La Máquina has to face for the remainder of the season has opened the doors to all of the players, something that already caused the exit of Misael Corona, José de Jesús Corona’s son, who left Cruz Azul given the lack of opportunities he had.

José Joaquín “Shaggy” Martínez could be following the steps of Misael Corona, given the few playing time he’s having with La Máquina, as he’s only started in three games, including the one against Santos. The other two were on CONCACAF Champions League, on the round of 16 against Canadian side Forge FC.

“Shaggy” Martínez ends his contract with Cruz Azul at the end of the season, and given the current situation, it’s most likely that he won’t renew with La Máquina. Martínez wants to keep playing, which is why he could return to his former team Morelia, although they are now named Mazatlán FC.

“Chuy” Corona, not happy with the departure of his son

“Chuy” Corona wasn’t keen on the idea of the departure of his son, as Misael won’t have any opportunities to play for Cruz Azul anytime soon, given that when “Chuy” leaves, Sebastián Jurado is ready to take over the starting job. Corona could be on the move at the end of the season, as he didn’t like the decision of parting ways with his son.
