Even if Cruz Azul were able to finish the regular season of Clausura 2022 standing sixth in Liga MX table and received the Repechaje in Estadio Azteca, where they eliminated Club Necaxa in a penalty shootout after the game ended in a 1-1 draw, Jaime Ordiales has decided to part ways with Juan Reynoso once La Máquina’s participation in the knockout stage is over.

Juán Reynoso still believes in Iván Morales and leaves a striker with goals on the bench at Cruz Azul

The irregularities that Cruz Azul had over the season started after the sixth round, when Jaime Ordiales returned to La Máquina’s structure to replace Álvaro Dávila as sporting director, who was Reynoso’s main supporter within Cruz Azul.

On the other hand, Ordiales was his main detractor, even before Reynoso arrived at Cruz Azul, as he claimed that the Peruvian coach didn’t have the credentials, nor the experience needed to coach a team like La Máquina.

Although Reynoso proved him wrong on the first season that he had in front of Cruz Azul, when he helped break a 23-year streak without a Liga MX title, the enmity was already there, and now that Cruz Azul has few options of winning Liga MX again, Ordiales is resolved to have a new coach for Apertura 2022.

Who are the options that La Máquina has?

Jaime Ordiales is looking for different options to replace Juan Reynoso, who reports suggest that he can arrive at Peru National Team if Ricardo Gareca doesn’t manage to win the playoffs and make it into the World Cup.

The biggest name on his list is Hugo Sánchez, as the “Pentapichichi” was also his first choice before La Máquina hired Juan Reynoso over a year ago, and now that he’s the only one taking decisions, it will be up to Sánchez to accept the offer.

If “Hugol” doesn’t arrive at Cruz Azul, Ordiales has a Plan B: Ricardo “Tuca” Ferretti, who recently parted ways with FC Juárez after one of the worst seasons for a Liga MX team, as they only won three games, which is why he’s looking for a new opportunity to show he’s still able to win.

Ordiales even has a Plan C

But if neither Hugo Sánchez nor Ricardo Ferretti decides to arrive at Cruz Azul, Ordiales already has a Plan C, as he’s committed to part ways with Reynoso no matter what. According to reports, Pablo Guede is also a possibility for La Máquina.
