One of the things that Fernando “Tano” Ortíz needs to prioritize now that he was named the coach of Club América for Apertura 2022 is the addition of a new striker that can score consistently, as that was one of the main things that prevented them from transcending in Liguilla.

Although “El Tano” found a good lineup to help Las Águilas leave the bottom of the table and make it directly into Liguilla, avoiding playing Repechaje, he never found a striker that could complement the wingers and midfielders.

Neither Henry Martín nor Federico Viñas were able to contribute to the team regularly, as they only scored four goals among the two of them, which is why Las Águilas are already looking to add a new striker before Apertura 2022 starts.

They can pay $5 million for the new striker

Although they’ve been linked to Atlas FC forward Julián Quiñones, it looks complicated that they’d be able to sign him, but Ortíz has another striker on the list, as reports from W Deportes Radio informed that Juan Ignacio Dinenno is another possibility for Las Águilas.

Dinenno was Golden Boot of the CONCACAF Champions League last season, as he scored nine goals in eight games, showing that he knows how to fin the net on a regular basis. His arrival to América could happen thanks to Tigres, as Los Felinos want to acquire Federico Viñas. If Las Águilas were to sign Dinenno, they will have to pay $5 million for his transfer.
