Club América arrived at the game against Club Necaxa needing a victory if they wanted to keep their hopes up for the remainder of Clausura 2022, as they knew they need at least 10 points to clinch a spot in Repechaje.

The salary that Ricardo Ferretti is asking to arrive in Club América

The victory arrived at the end of the game thanks to a goal of Diego Valdés, who scored his second goal of the season and is showing that he’s slowly adapting to Club América after being one of the most important players in Club Santos for the past three years.

With the 1-0 victory over Los Rayos, Club América was able to leave the bottom of the table and is standing in Repechaje places, as they reached 13 points in 12 games, and are tied with Chivas, Atlético San Luis and Toluca, although the goal difference is what have them as 12 in Liga MX table.

But even if América was able to win the game and climb positions in Liga MX standings, they still haven’t found the best way to close the plays, especially with the bad streak that their strikers are going through, as neither Henry Martín nor Roger Martínez have been decisive for Las Águilas.

Zague still believes in Martín

Even if Henry Martín has proved multiple times that he doesn’t have the level needed to play for a team like Club América, Luis Roberto Alves “Zague”, Club América legend, said during the transmission of the game that he believes that Martín is just going through a rough streak.

But Martín has received multiple opportunities, both with Club América and Mexico National Team, and has failed to contribute his team every single time, which is why Las Águilas followers are asking for his departure, something that could happen at the end of the season.

Will he make it to the World Cup?

It’s yet to be seen if Gerardo “Tata” Martino will consider him to be part of the final roster of the Mexican national team, although so far, nothing has showed that he won’t be part of the team that plays in Qatar 2022.

Henry Martin debuted with El Tri back in 2015 on a friendly match against Trinidad y Tobago that ended in a 3-3 draw. Since then, he has played 18 games, most of them with Martino as El Tri’s coach, scoring just five goals, two of them in the CONCACAF Qualifiers.
