Club América seem to finally be leaving the crisis that Santiago Solari got them into at the start of Clausura 2022, as they were able to win on their visit to Club Necaxa with a late score by Diego Valdés that gave them the 1-0 victory.

With the three points earned on Saturday night, they were able to sneak for a day in the Repechaje spots, as they tied with Chivas and Atlético San Luis with 13 points each, although they now sit 14 given the results of Santos Laguna and Pumas.

But nevertheless, since Fernando “Tano” Ortíz took over the team, Las Águilas have earned seven points out of the 12 available, surpassing what Solari managed to do but in half the time, as the Argentine coach only earned six points in eight games.

But if Club América wants to keep improving and returning to the front pages of Liga MX for next season, they know that they have to strengthen their squad, which is why they already know who is going to be their first addition.

Las Águilas are going to reunite “Chava” Reyes with his former teammate

According to reports from sports journalist Jonatan Peña, Club América is already negotiating with Club Puebla to acquire on of their best players for the 2022-23 Liga MX season, as they know they have to strengthen their defense.

Salvador “Chava” Reyes, who arrived at Las Águilas from Club Puebla for the current season, could be reunited with his former teammate, Israel Reyes, who has been impressing since Nicolás Larcamón took over La Franja.

Not only has he become one of the best players for Los Camoteros, as he’s one of the most constant players on the pitch, but also has impressed Gerardo “Tata” Martino, at least enough to have given him his first call-up to Mexico National Team to an official game.

Who will leave América if he arrives?

The most obvious answer could be Bruno Valdez, as the Paraguayan hasn’t been able to maintain the same level of previous seasons, even if he’s one of the top scorers of Las Águilas this season. Reports suggest that he doesn’t enjoy the trust of the executives, which would open the door to his departure.
