Cruz Azul's management will look to sign Christian Tabó as one of its reinforcements for the 2022 Clausura Tournament in the next few hours after the Uruguayan striker's move to Monterrey fell through.

According to ESPN, the Celeste board made an offer for Tabó, a player who was very close to reinforcing La Máquina a year ago, when the former sporting director, Jaime Ordiales, negotiated in December 2020 with Puebla to sign the Uruguayan striker, whose style of play is very much welcomed by coach Juan Reynoso, who knows him perfectly well after having coached him at La Franja.

Reynoso had once again considered Tabó as one of his alternatives to reinforce the Celeste forward line for 2022, but Puebla had practically reached an agreement with Rayados' board of directors for his definitive sale, which was called of off in the end.

Today, the possibility of the 28-year-old native from Montevideo joining Cruz Azul is once again very close, as he is just one signature away from a move.

If all the negotiation details between Cruz Azul and Puebla are finalized, La Máquina will finally be able to count on a reinforcement that it has been pursuing for a year.
