When it looked like the Esmeraldas de León and Chivas would draw 1-1 on Saturday, the home side came away with a 2-1 victory in the last play of the match at the Nou Camp Stadium, in a match corresponding to round 6 of the Clausura 2022 Liga MX season.

The match was a clash in which León was superior, but the Rebaño's changes, as well as the advantages conceded by the locals, allowed the tie to materialize.  Towards the end, a defensive error allowed La Fiera to take the three points and give Ariel Holan some relief.

León vs Chivas Highlights

In the first half, León practically had control of the ball and the action, although Chivas had a brief period of good soccer that they were unable to capitalize on with a goal.

Chivas suffered most of the first half, given the coach's insistence on placing Isaac Brizuela at fullback, and León sought to take advantage of this move, as the Verdes' attacks were, for the most part, with throws to Jean Meneses looking to beat the back of the player from Altos de Jalisco.

Dávila scored the first for León

However, León's lead goal was scored thanks to an individual mistake at the start. Fernando Beltrán felt cornered in the midfield, under pressure from three players.

Feeling that he had no options for touching the ball, he made the worst possible decision: he delayed the ball, looking to join Raúl Gudiño. He lacked the clarity to see that the ball was left for Víctor Dávila, who was left alone and in front of the Chiva goalkeeper, to take a soft touch on his way out, at minute 17'.

Moments later, the referee, Fernando Guerrero, made a mistake against the Rojiblancos by not sanctioning a penalty kick in favor of Chivas, after a clear foul by a León defender on Ángel Zaldívar. The referee sanctioned a handball by Chelo, following the foul. Not even the VAR saved him from the error.

Chivas made changes, tied, but it was not enough

In the second half, the Rebaño made changes that made the Rojiblanco team look much better. Jose Juan Macias, Eduardo Torres, and Cristian Calderon came in to change the team's face, and also the result.

Ten minutes from the end, 'Chicote' Calderón appeared. Guadalajara had already insisted on several occasions, but it was when Isaac Brizuela broke down the right, crossed to the far post and Calderón anticipated a León defender to head home the equalizer.

Chivas was already savoring a point, but they didn't count on a mistake at the back by their defenders. Osvaldo Rodríguez made the Verde's building explode, and left Chivas with their second consecutive defeat, and third in the Clausura 2022 tournament.
