Club Guadalajara has not had its best performance in the beginning of the Apertura 2022 Tournament with an unlucky 1-1 draw against Santos Laguna last weekend, so tonight the regrets are over and coach Ricardo Cadena will have to show all his qualities as a coach to get out of the slump in which the Guadalajara team has been submerged in recent years.

Chivas is looking much better than in the first matches of the tournament, the Guadalajara side should be up at least by a goal against Club León. At the 26th minute Alexis Vega scored a wonder goal from outside the box, after a rebound from a corner-kick. However the referee watched ‘something’ in the VAR replay and chose to disallow the goal, there was no offside or foul on the play so the decision was taken badly by the Chivas bench.

At the end of the first half, the referee awarded a non-existent penalty for Chivas, were the Guadalajara player tripped himself in the edge of the box. However, this time the ref inexplicably did not use the VAR replay to try and get a better look on the play. The Leon goalkeeper Rodolfo Cota managed to stop the penalty on a huge save. Sending the match into the half tied to nil.

The referee ruined the game for Chivas

Finally, Guadalajara’s efforts went down the drain when the referee decided to show the red card to Luis Olivas after a tackle on Joel Campbell. The tackle was not ill intentioned and did not seem too harsh. However, after the ref saw the VAR replay he decided to send the player off, complicating the match for Chivas even further.
