The Apertura 2021 has come to an end for Chivas and the wave of rumors, as well as confirmations, is beginning to hit Verde Valle after the failure of the elimination at the hands of Puebla in the playoffs.

After a semester of ups and downs, with coaching changes and unexpected results, the “Rebaño” now begins to plan the Clausura 2022, where they are thinking about how to shore up their squad and compete in the best way possible in search of the title that has not come since the Clausura 2017 when they were crowned with Matías Almeyda.

Due to irregularity, as well as the lack of positive soccer team performance, it is expected that they will let leave assets that can bring them money to hire players or accept exchanges to have key pieces that fit with the project now headed by Marcelo Michel Leaño, a coach who was definitively confirmed as their manager, with full confidence of the board of directors to return to the top positions.

Ricardo Pelaez stays on

Amaury Vergara and the Chivas directors' board, where Vergara is supported by his sisters and brothers-in-law Diego Calderón Schulze and Alejandro Manzo, decided to give continuity to Ricardo Peláez's project as sporting director, extending his contract that expired in December for an undefined period of time, so that the former head of Cruz Azul, América and the Mexican National Team will continue to have authority in the decision making process for the next tournament. It will be Ricardo's responsibility to choose the new red and white manager.

With that in mind, we present the most heard rumors about the institution.

Cordova deal almost closed

The exchange of Sebastian Córdova for Uriel Antuna is getting closer and closer and could be completed in the next few hours or days. América and Chivas already have an agreement to carry out the transaction and are only waiting for both players to settle salary issues with both institutions.

While this is happening, Sebastián Córdova continues to work with the rest of his teammates at the Coapa Nido. Córdova, who is still an “Azulcrema” player, arrived this Wednesday morning to train with the Águilas and is only awaiting a call from his agent to leave the team.

Three possible returns for Chivas

Jose Juan Macías, the Getafe striker, is on the list for a possible comeback to Verde Valle due to his lack of minutes at the Spanish team. It has only been six months since his departure but apparently, there´s no place for him in the Getafe squad.

Javier Eduardo López, also nicknamed “La Chofis”, after a great season under the orders of San Jose Earthquakes manager, Matías Almeyda, was on the list to be back, but yesterday the MLS team announced the loan renewal for six more months.

Finally, another player that also was playing for San Jose Earthquakes, Oswaldo Alanís, will return to Chivas. Journalist Fernando Cevallos reports that the idea that the Chivas board of directors have for Alanís is that upon his return, his card will be used as a trade currency within the Liga Mx and thus obtain or sell other players that Leaño's coaching staff would like to fill the gaps that the Rebaño Sagrado's players currently have.

Other reinforcements players rumors

The list of rumors also includes the following players, but their arrival looks more unlikely:

Eduardo Aguirre (Santos Laguna), Jordan Carrillo (Santos Laguna), Kevin Álvarez (Pachuca), Jesús Dueñas (Tigres UANL).
