After the 1-1 draw in the Clásico Tapatío against Atlas, where Chivas weren’t able to keep the partial victory that they had for most of the second half, some players couldn’t hide their disappointment and decided that Chivas is no longer the place for them.

Marcelo Michel Leaño talks about leaving Chivas after the draw in the Clásico Tapatío

That’s the case of Rolando Cisneros, who just hours after Atlas tied the game with a last-minute header of Julián Quiñones, decided to leave El Rebaño, as he was announced by MLS side Atlanta United as their new incorporation.

The 25-year-old forward joined the 5-Stripes on a short loan with option to extend it until the end of the year, as he’s trying to gain more regularity, given that Marcelo Michel Leaño only gave him six minutes of playing time in Clausura 2022.

But after both Chivas and Atlanta made the announcement, a new player from El Rebaño raised his hand to be the next on the line to leave Chivas, given that he stopped believing in Marcelo Michel Leaño and the project he hasn’t been able to establish.

Who is the player that wants to leave?

Reports suggest that Miguel Ángel Ponce is ready to leave El Rebaño as soon as the current season is over, something he didn’t care to hide on Sunday’s game, as he made himself sent off after engaging in a fight with Jairo Torres at the end of the first half.

Amaury Vergara wouldn’t see with bad eyes the departure of the 32-year-old left-back, as he hasn’t showed the commitment to help Chivas leave the bad streak they currently are into, as is not the first time that his actions affect the performance of the team.

Where will he play next season?

According to reports, Ponce could continue his career in Club Necaxa, team where he’s played in the past on a 1-year loan, since they need a left-back that can improve the strategy that Jaime Lozano is trying to implement.

Who is the player that could replace him?

Both Amaury Vergara and Marcelo Michel Leaño know that they need a left-back that feels the colors of the team and is committed to be fully focused, which is why they’re considering having Alejandro Mayorga back, after sending him to Cruz Azul on the trade for Roberto “Piojo” Alvarado.
