It's just a matter of time for Mesut Özil to leave Arsenal. Even though the German midfielder has intentions to play at the club, head coach Mikel Arteta has axed him out from both Premier League and Europa League squads. With some rumors of where the 32 years old player could move now, he made a clear statement.
On his social media, Özil published a message in which he said that he is deeply disappointed after being cut and that he always wanted to respect his loyalty with the London club. In a statement that clearly blames Arteta as the guilty, he wrote that he will still train and give his best to play back again.
Özil's last match for the Gunners was on March. After that, the COVID-19 pandemic stopped the activity and when coming back, he was left out from every single game. Arsenal paid more than $50 million for this player in September 2013 to Real Madrid and, after seven years, times may change now.
After all this chaos, Özil is looking forward to making a move during the next transfer market if Arteta continues as a head coach. MLS has seduced him with interesting offers and, as reported now, D.C. United is the team that takes the lead to sign him.
