In recent days an unthinkable war began between two of the most recognized athletes in the world: Zlatan Ibrahimovic and LeBron James. The reason? Political participation. Why? The Swede considers all the activity that the basketball player did in the run-up to the US presidential elections, which ended with Joe Biden in the White House, unnecessary. And in the last hours, the Milan striker referred to LeBron again harshly.

Invited to the San Remo Festival, the Milan striker gave a press conference and once again emphasized his differences with the Los Angeles Lakers star. “Racism and politics are two different things. Athletes unite the world, politics divides the world. Everyone is welcome, it has nothing to do with where you come from, we do what we do to bring people together… We don't do other things because we are not good, otherwise I would be in politics. This is my message. Athletes must be athletes, politicians must be politicians”, he outlined.

It is worth noting that this unexpected crossover began when Zlatan stated that “I don't like it when people with any type of status talk about politics. You do what you are good at. I play soccer because I am the best playing soccer. I don't do politics. If I were a politician, I would dedicate myself to politics. This is the first mistake celebrities make when they feel like they have arrived. For me, it is better to stay away from these issues and do what you are good at, otherwise you risk not making a good impression”.

At these words, LeBron James replied harshly over the weekend: “I have more than 300 children in my school (I Promise School) who need a voice and I am their voice… I will never shut up when something is wrong. I speak for my people, I speak of equality, social injustice, racism, systematic vote suppression. I'm the wrong guy to go to: I always do my homework. “There is no way that I limit myself to just dedicating myself to sports because I understand this platform and how powerful my voice is. It's funny that he says that: I think in 2018 it was he who said, when he was in Sweden, that he felt racism because his last name was not a normal last name (in Sweden). Correct? He said that, right? I think he said it”,said the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.
