FC Barcelona is going through a financial crisis that is already public knowledge. The Catalan club has had great losses in recent seasons and still owes some signings made several years ago. This is the case of the Philippe Coutinho pass. The Barcelona leadership still has a millionaire debt with Liverpool.

The departure of Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona was driven by the club's financial problems and the problems do not stop. The Barça entity continues to face the consequences of mismanagement and they still owe large sums of money in transfers made several years ago, as is the case with Philippe Coutinho.

Barcelona agreed in 2018 to transfer Coutinho to Liverpool in exchange for 120 million fixed euros plus another 40 million in variables. This is, to date, the highest investment in the club's history in the transfer market and the Catalan team still owes much of the pass from the Brazilian midfielder.

FC Barcelona has a great debt with different clubs for signings that have not yet been paid in full. To be exact, the Blaugrana entity maintains a total debt of 115 million euros in transfers not yet settled. The Catalans owe a total of 42 million euros to Liverpool for the transfer of Coutinho. This has attracted the attention of many not only because of the time that has elapsed since the signing, but similar transactions such as those of Antoine Griezmann and Osumane Dembélé have already been settled.
