Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to the Sweden national team squad early this year after a five years absence after an initial retirement after Euro 2016. Ibrahimovic missed out on the Euro 2020 due to a knee injury he sustained at AC Milan.

At 40, he's still going strong and setting high standards for himself. He claimed he will not retire until his body can no longer move again. He pays keen attention to his diet and lifestyle so as to maintain good fitness and keep going for as long as possible.

Sweden fell short of automatic qualification to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after losing to Spain in the group deciding match thanks to Alvaro Morata's only goal of the match. Should Sweden overcome the playoffs and qualify for the mundial, will Ibrahimovic play?

Ibrahimovic has represented Sweden at the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups, and the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 UEFA European Championships. If Sweden qualifies for the 2022 FIFA World Cup he will certainly participate unless he is injured.
