Xavi Hernandez during his first press conference after his unveiling as Barcelona manager was to talk about French winger Ousmane Dembele as one of his priorities and called on the club to renew his contract which expires at the end of the season.
If there is anything in the Barcelona Dembele deal, the club have not seen value for their money. They paid €105m for the winger in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund but it has been injuries upon injuries. He has suffered 12 injuries and missed over 650 days due to injuries. He has missed more games than he has played.
"Extending Ousmane Dembele’s contract is one of our priorities, yes. He could be the best player in the world in his position. Ousmane has to work a lot, he has the potential to make the difference at Barca as a world top player. But he needs to be consistent.” Xavi said during press conference.
It is now reported that Dembele broke one of Xavi's rules by turning up late for training and has angered Xavi who insists he must pay the allotted fine and has also started regretting placing priority on him and will consider letting him leave.
